Sam Clemmett will be returning to the role of Albus Potter in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway in the Spring of 2018.
The first scene of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set during the final chapter in the seventh book, in which Harry says goodbye to his son Albus as he leaves for Hogwarts for the first time. J.K. Rowling has previously said of Sam’s casting: ‘There’s much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but we’d be into spoiler territory so quickly I’ll just say we couldn’t have cast better.’
Sam will be joined by fellow West End cast members Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger), Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy), Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley), Poppy Miller (Ginny Weasley), and Alex Price (Draco Malfoy), as well as 28 new cast members. The West End show won a record-breaking 9 Oliviers overall, including Best New Play, as well as 8 WhatsOnStage Awards, 3 Critics’ Circle Awards, and 1 Evening Standard Theatre Award.
